Jon picked up the guitar at age 10 and has remained captivated by the instrument and music ever since. While participating in private lessons, Jon pushed towards performing live and in 2006 formed the rock group Chicago Green. The band released it’s EP in 2007 and built a small Chicago following.
In 2009, Jon began attending The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies with a focus in guitar performance. While at Roosevelt, Jon became even more well versed in the history and performance of Jazz, Blues, Afro-Cuban, and Brazilian music as well as music theory and composition. Jon also had the great opportunity to study and work with renowned musicians including Ruben Alvarez, Tom Garling, Paulinho Garcia, Scott Mason, and studied privately with guitar great Henry Johnson.
While studying and beyond, Jon has been fortunate enough to have been a part of various projects and has performed at the Chicago House of Blues, Auditorium Theatre, The Detroit Music Hall, The Jazz Showcase as well as many other prominent concert venues nationally. He has also performed alongside NBC’s “The Voice” contestant Jamie Lono on national television for WGN midday news and ABC’s morning news in Chicago. The band also went on to win the “Land the Big Gig 2012” contest with their performance at Summerfest 2012. Jon is also a part of the Chicago rock review Honey & The 45’s which released their debut album “The Need” in the fall of 2012 and their follow up “MAD” in the fall of 2014.
Inspired by those who had led him in becoming a musician, Jon began giving private lessons to students of all skill levels in the Chicagoland area and has been for the past 7 years. He has also engaged in group seminars, clinics, and group guitar method lessons.
